This year we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas, to finally pass embracing our loved ones. Here at the ‘Il Patriarca’, the fireplace has been lit for days now and we will soon decorate our rooms. Montepulciano – an enchanting village on the border between Valdichiana and Val d’Orcia – is also about to open its doors to travelers with many attractions.

This medieval village certainly needs no introduction! Homeland of Vino Nobile and illustrious personalities such as Agnolo Poliziano, has always welcomed thousands of tourists, also becoming the center of international film productions such as I Medici o The Twilight Saga. However, not everyone knows that the niggest Christmas Market of Central Italy. is held in Montepulciano during the month of December
THE MARKETS AND PIAZZA GRANDE
Local artisans and traders gather in Montepulciano to offer their products. The display stalls, all made entirely of wood, offer products of all kinds: from local crafts to traditional winter drinks such as “Vin Brulé”. During past editions, evocative video projections painted the facade of the Town Hall, making thousands of children dream. Will we see them again this year? We just have to find out.
CHRISTMAS TERRACE
Coming out from Piazza Grande the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano sets up the “Christmas Terrace”. Housed in a natural terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia, the “Christmas Terrace” is an enchanted place where you can taste the fine wine while enjoying the breathtaking view of the Temple of San Biagio.
SANTA’S CASTLE
The medieval fortress is transformed into the “Castle of Santa Claus”: the dozens of rooms of the ancient palace host the houses of the elves, the sleigh with reindeer and the throne room, where Santa Claus is at the service of the little ones, taking pictures and reading their letters. The gardens of the fortress are full of decorations, street food stalls and a wonderful skating rink to entertain young and old.
