5 reasons to visit Tuscany
For your holiday in Siena

If you are planning your next vacation in Italy, surely Tuscany is not to be missed!

5 good reasons to visit our beautiful region:

Breathtaking landscapes : a few steps from our hotel lies the wonderful Val d’Orcia, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, which offers unique panoramas at any time of the year. The French geographer Henri Desplanques, in 1959 said: "Tuscan countryside was built as a work of art by refined people with refined tastes, the same people who in the 1400s commissioned paintings and frescoes to their artists: this has been for centuries the main feature both in designing countryside and in building houses in Tuscany. It's amazing how these people built their rural landscapes having beauty as their only purpose."

The Palio di Siena: The Palio di Siena is one of the most famous medieval rides in the world that since 1633, every year, takes place on July 2nd and August 16th, with the famous race of horses in the famous Piazza del Campo. The protagonists of the Palio are the 17 contrade, but only 10 can participate in the race: the 7 districts excluded the previous year and 3 drawn by lot. The crucial moment of the Palio is the "move", when the rope is lowered to start the race, a moment that holds the breath for the whole city. Attending the Palio from the center of the square is free for everyone. To access the balconies, the stages, the windows, you must buy the ticket instead.

Relax and Thermal Wellness : with just ten minutes by car from our villa, you can reach the thermal resort of Chianciano Terme where the Theia Thermal Pools or the Sensory Spa are available for those who want to relax body and mind at 360 degrees. For those who love free spas instead, in the municipality of Castiglione d'Orcia, there is the famous area of Bagni San Filippo, which with its "White Whale" awaits all visitors for a very impressive and natural SPA bath.

Tasting the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino: The Nobile di Montepulciano is an important red wine whose origins date back to 1300 and which since 1980 boasts the DOCG for the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the DOC for the Rosso di Montepulciano. In a dominant percentage obtained with bold grapes:(| Prugnolo Gentile) (a local variety of Sangiovese), the Nobile goes well with the traditional pici with Chianina ragù that you can enjoy at our restaurants. Brunello di Montalcino was the first Italian wine to obtain DOC in 1960 before, and DOCG in 1980 later. It is produced within the confines of the municipal area of Montalcino, a few km from our hotel, with grapes from the Sangiovese grape only, locally called "Brunello". It is a classic wine to pair with red meats, roasts, game, aged cheeses that are never lacking at our Taverna, but it is also suitable as a "meditation" wine, to be enjoyed in winter in front of our crackling fireplace, or in the summer in the shade of the cypress trees in the Italian garden of our nineteenth-century villa.

The good food: thinking of a platter of cold cuts of Cinta senese, a plate of Pienza's DOP Pecorino cheeses , a plate of pici all'Aglione or a beautiful Fiorentina T-bone steak, we can say that Tuscan cuisine has no equal in terms of culinary offerings.
